Chamber Groups
Brass Quintet

The group formed by instruments from the brass section of the symphonic orchestra is a new ensemble, which was driven by chamber ensembles from the first half of the 20th century.

The group is composed of: two trumpets, horn, trombone, and tuba. Occasionally, one or another instrument may be substituted, given the needs of the musical composition.

The group's sonority is remarkable; all the brilliance and power of the metals can be perceived in the formation. Nevertheless, the group is musically eclectic, and can easily move from classical to popular repertoires, which makes it a chamber group capable of pleasing diverse tastes and fitting into any events, whether it be concerts, shows, or corporate activities.

Brass Octet and Percussion

This innovative formation adds to the already traditional brass quintet the euphonium (a characteristic symphonic band instrument) and a percussion set, which gives the group a wide possibility to explore new sounds, in addition to promoting the commissioning of new works for this ensemble.

Clarinet Quartet

This group can be made up of various types of clarinets. The family of clarinets is giant, we have "Requinta", which is the Piccolo Clarinet in Eb and we go up to the Bass Clarinet in Bb. The clarinet quartet of the São Paulo Philharmonic Band is composed of three soprano clarinets and a bass clarinet. This formation can venture into several styles of repertoire: classical, jazz, traditional, contemporary and we cannot forget our Brazilian Popular Music. This versatility is due to the fact that the clarinet is an instrument that is propitious to virtuosity, both technical, where the clarinetist can play passages with great speed, and dynamic, where the group plays a passage in a sweet pianissimo to a powerful fortissimo.

Saxophone Quartet

The saxophone is a relatively modern instrument and one of the closest to the human voice.

The BanFilSP Saxophone Quartet offers us the possibility of moving between the classical and the popular through the captivating timbres of this family of wind instruments.

Wind Quintet

An instrumental formation consolidated since the end of the 18th century, it is composed of flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and French horn. The diversity of the instruments and their peculiar timbre lend brilliance and lightness to the sonority that can be extracted from this beautiful ensemble.
