The São Paulo Philharmonic Band is a symphonic band, i.e., an ensemble formed by wind instruments and percussion that, in a complete formation, can also count on contrabass, piano, and harp, and can have from 60 to 90 musicians.

Due to the diversity of its instrumental formation, the Band can be changed according to the nature of the works to be performed, for example, traditional repertoire, contemporary repertoire, arrangements, transcriptions, popular pieces, and theme concerts.
